San Diego--The function of huntingtin, the protein encoded by the gene defective in Huntington's disease, has been a mystery. But the discovery that huntingtin has a partner protein, coupled with the finding that the partner binds the mutated form of huntingtin more tightly than the normal form, may give researchers the handle they need to solve the mystery.
