KYOTO--Moon viewing is an autumn tradition in this country, and last week the world's space scientists were given a close look at Japan's plans for lunar exploration. Japan is pressing ahead with its lunar program--backing two of the three international missions now scheduled to land on or orbit the moon in the next several years--at a time when most other nations are focusing their space efforts elsewhere.
