COMEBACK OF THE YEAR:
SOHO's Triumphant Return

On 24 June, disaster struck the hugely successful Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) and it spun out of control, but it was only out of contact with Earth for a few months. In a miraculous comeback, contact was reestablished on 3 August.
