MEGASCIENCE:
International Scientific Cooperation

The Megascience Forum, an intergovernmental body for the coordination of large-scale scientific endeavors, was founded by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in 1992. Recently, the Forum's remit was renewed and updated. This Policy Forum describes the achievements of the Forum, analyzes the stength and weaknesses and discusses its evolving role in international scientific cooperation.


The author is a Professor Emeritus at the Université Denis-Diderot (Paris 7), Paris, France. He is associated with Groupe de Physique des Solides. He was a national delegation member with the OECD Megascience Forum. E-mail: baruch{at}gps.jussieu.fr
