ENERGY TECHNOLOGY:
A Bright View, Too Focused

A review by David Faiman

From Space to Earth The Story of Solar Electricity
John Perlin
Aatec, Ann Arbor, MI, 1999. 240 pp. $32. ISBN 0-937948-14-4.

Using a series of fascinating and well-written accounts of individuals who have developed, advocated, and employed solar cells, Perlin describes the evolution of photovoltaics. Our reviewer objected to the partisan attitude, sales-talk style, and general neglect of other solar power technologies.
The author is in the Department of Physics, and at the National Solar Energy Center, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Sede Boqer Campus, 84990 Israel. E-mail: faiman{at}bgumail.bgu.ac.il
