Taking the Bite Out of Potato Blight

Late blight, the mold that infested Ireland's potato fields in the 1840s, has spread around the globe--and grown more aggressive than ever. In response to the burgeoning risk from the world's most destructive agricultural disease, researchers are working worldwide to contain it. Although much remains to be learned about late blight, such efforts are beginning to pay off as researchers uncover potential vulnerabilities in the pathogen and outline better defense strategies.
